In a perfect world, today would be the day that fans of Kid Cudi would be enjoying his brand new studio album, Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin. Sadly enough, we’re not in a perfect world. Noting that the album would be pushed back due to sample clearance issues, the creative did note that he would be premiering new tracks from the album to hold fans over. Among the premiere is his new Pharrell-assisted record, ‘Surfin.’
With both gentlemen being very versatile in terms of their sound and what they’re capable of, many fans didn’t know what to expect. In it’s final form, ‘Surfin’ is an uptempo groove driven by horns as Kid Cudi sings of his own unique quality and doing his own thing. Taken from the “It’s Bright and Heaven is Warm” section of his new album, perhaps we can expect more of this sound from that portion of the new body of work.
