In the video above, Bleacher Report’s Ric Bucher says that an anonymous title-contending NBA team has a sinister plan to break up this Golden State Warriors super-team. In the video, Bucher says:
“There are 29 teams hoping the chemistry between Kevin Durant and Steph Curry is poisonous. But there is one team that is planning for it. I’ve been told by one of the league’s title contenders that they hope to poach Curry. They see KD taking the last-minute shots that were once Curry’s domain. Their pitch will be: ‘Come to us, and you can be the man once more.’
I’m not sure which team that Bucher is referring to — though one title contender without a franchise point guard that comes to mind is the Spurs — but this seems like something that that team should not bank on happening. Yes, Curry is used to taking most of the team’s big shots. But he doesn’t take all of them. Has his chemistry with Klay Thompson turned “poisonous?” No. Curry does not seem like the type of player who becomes upset or jealous over losing touches. Curry understands that when you sign one of the best scorers in NBA history, that player is going to take a lot of shots. All of Curry, Thompson, and Durant will probably attempt less shots than they did last season. But their sacrifices will (in all likelihood) lead to a championship. This is the greatest team in NBA history on paper, and I think that every player on that team will be willing to sacrifice touches in order to win.
