According the all-encompassing Adam Schefter, Calvin Johnson told the team and coaches that 2015 would be his last year, at the age of 30. Not sure if the movie Concussion got into his psyche or the overall proof that CTE is very real give that former Steelers receiver and returnman Antwaan Randle El made claims about suffering from early stages of the disease.
Nobody really knows except the perennial Pro-Bowler Megatron. However, the reports states that Johnson told two of his teammates, Matthew Stafford and Stephen Tulloch, that he planned to retire before the season began due to soreness in his body. What’s more, is that he shared this with his family and friends. WOW!
One caveat is that if he does decides to retire he’ll owe the Lions $3.2 million in previously signed bonus money.
Things have definitely gotten interesting!
