It was Kobe Bryant’s return to his hometown of Philadelphia and it was supposed to be a warm welcome coupled with a Lakers victory, at least in the eyes of Lakers fans. Little did they known, the 76ers didn’t care who was returning, they wanted to get their first win.
The 76ers snapped the longest losing streak in NBA history at 28 games with the home victory. They were led by sharpshooting wingman Robert Covington who dropped 23 points on 8-16 shooting including 5-11 shooting from the free throw line while also being the main defender of Kobe Bryant. Convington also grabbed five rebounds and handed out four assists on the night. Jerami Grant scored 14 points and grabbed 7 rebounds, Jahlil Okafor scored 12 points with 5 rebounds and Isaiah Canaan also dropped 12 on the night.
Kobe Bryant was not shy on Tuesday night as he chucked up 26 shots on the night, hitting only seven of them including shooting a horrendous 4-17 from the three point line. Bryant led the Lakers with 20 points on the night and Jordan Clarkson scored 19 on a better shooting night going 9-19 from the field.
It’s all over. Those who bet on the 76ers winning before the Golden State Warriors lost, its time to rake in your winnings. Congratulations, Philadelphia.
