Anticipation is quickly building for the 2016 MLB All-Star Game, which will take up residency at San Diego’s Petco Park in less than three weeks. The brightest stars in both leagues will convene for three days of events between July 10 and 12, beginning with All-Star Sunday and culminating with the 87th All-Star Game two days later.
As 68 of the nation’s best players descend upon Southern California to take part in the festivities, it comes as no surprise that 2016 MLB All-Star Game tickets are finding big demand on the resale market. According to online aggregator Razorgator, tickets for the All-Star Game on July 12 start from $327 for Standing-Room-Only tickets. The cheapest seats can be found $364 in the Upper Reserved in Section 303. The most expensive ticket? A Field Box seat in Section 107 for a cool $3,486.
Tickets to the big game may be expensive, but that shouldn’t deter fans from making the trip to Petco Park. Those with plans of driving to the stadium can find ample parking options on ParkWhiz.com. Petco Park parking in independent lots within walking distance to the stadium can be found each day between July 10 and 12. Parking starts from just $10 for the All-Star Game on July 12, considerably cheaper than the $20+ fees in the stadium’s official lots.
Of course, exorbitant ticket prices won’t rule across the entirety of the events in San Diego next month. All-Star Sunday on July 10 will feature a bevy of events, including the All-Star Futures Game involving many of the Minor League’s biggest talent and All-Star Legends and Celebrity Softball Game. Tickets for that day, which grant access to both events, start from just $10. Sterling K. Brown, J.K. Simmons, Landon Donovan and Nina Agdal are just a few of the many set to play in the Softball Game.
Perhaps the most exciting pre-All-Star Game event each year is the Home Run Derby, and 2016’s competition will again pack a punch when it hits Petco Park on July 11. While sluggers won’t be announced until the week of the competition, tickets already start from $156 on Razorgator. If looking to get a spot in the outfield in hopes of snagging a home run ball, Home Run Derby tickets are currently listed from $196 in the 200 section in right field.
Fans can get their All-Star experience started even before All-Star Sunday begins, however. The MLB All-Star Game FanFest kicks off on Friday, July 8 at the San Diego Convention Center and will feature several dozen former Major League greats participating in question-and-answer sessions, clinics and autograph signings. Former Padres players Andy Ashby, Trevor Hoffman, Fred McGriff, Kevin Mitchell and David Wells will be on hand, as well as Hall of Famers Ozzie Smith, Dave Winfield, Gaylord Perry and Rollie Fingers.
Among the leading players on the All-Star ballot in the A.L. include four Red Sox players in Mookie Betts, Jackie Bradley, Jr., Xander Bogaerts and David Ortiz, as well as Mike Trout, Eric Hosmer and Manny Machado. The Cubs shine on the N.L. roster, with Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant, Dexter Fowler, Ben Zobrist and Addison Russell currently making up five of the eight starting spots.
