It is no secret that the South has dominated the sound of rap for more than a decade. From the Migos’ signature flows to the unique style of Young Thug, the South has had a hand in shaping pop culture through music. With that said, many of the artists that the public praises are from Atlanta. While there is no denying how much Atlanta has done for Hip-Hop, it would be downright wrong to ignore the contributions of other artists in the South. Whether its J. Cole’s Dreamville in North Carolina or Yo Gott’s CMG empire in Memphis, the talent is seemingly spread out throughout the southeast. For today’s conversation, we’re going to head out a bit further west to the state of Arkansas because an artist by the name of Young Quez is building something special.
Bankroll Freddie and Kari Faux are just two of the many artists that have made an impact in the state of Arkansas. Nearby, Young Quez is looking to take things to the next level. Following the release of the “Rockstar” video, the rising artist has returned with a new track called “Run It Up.” The celebratory anthem highlights Young Quez’s infectious energy and menacing bars. Not to mention, the Arkansas-based artist flawlessly floats in and out of the pocket as the beat switches throughout the track. If you were unaware of what rap in Arkansas sounds like, Young Quez’s “Run It Up” should give you a good idea of what’s cooking in the Razorback state.
