The much anticipated NYFW is finally upon us and who better to open the world’s most talked about event, thann one of the world’s most talked about artists, Kanye West. Yeezy kicked off the beginning of NYFW, which officially begins tomorrow, with his show Yeezy Season 4. Everything about the collection as well as the show’s location, was kept under wraps until it’s premier.
Yeezy Season 4 took place on Roosevelt Island in NYC, at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park. The triangular shaped runway had models at its center while others walked the catwalk around them. And in case you were wondering, Yeezy definitely took heed to the CFDA’s notice about including more models of color with a mostly melanated model selection.

The show, which kicked off an hour and a half later than its scheduled start time, featured pieces that displayed classic Ye’ style. There were lots of oversized pieces including sweatshirts, utility jackets and puffer coats. The collection also displayed a very natural/neutral look. Shades of black and nude were displayed in pieces like bodysuits, t-shirt dresses, shorts and crop tops to name a few. The collection wasn’t entirely plain though. There were pieces, mainly outerwear, that added a little color and print to the collection, like a flower patterned utility jacket.
And let us not forget the celebs who graced the show with their presence. Of course Kim Kardashian and sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner sat front row at her hubby’s show. Other celebs amongst them included Tyga, Fabolous, Pusha T, Vic Mensa and more. Iman Shumpert was also in attendance as his Bae, Teyana Taylor walked in the show, closing it out with model Chanel Iman. Sophia Richie also made her runway debut in the Yeezy Season 4 show.
All in all, the collection was very Kanye. It was straightforward and pretty plain, with the occasional pop of color and print. After season 3, we were sort of expecting a more exciting event fairly similar to the Saint Pablo tour or at least close, but I guess garden parties work too.
Also not to mention, the next wave of sneakers, the adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2 is set to debut in its first colorway this month as well. So stay tuned to that!
