Ray Allen announced earlier this week that he won’t play this season, and “might” comeback next season.
That, however, didn’t stop the Portland Trailblazers from reaching out to Allen’s agent about signing with the team.
From Yahoo Sports:
“Blazers general manager Neil Olshey made a call to agent Jim Tanner on Friday morning on the chance that Allen might reconsider his decision to sit out the 2014-15 season,” league sources told Yahoo Sports. Nevertheless, Tanner informed the Blazers that Allen, 39, remains intent on sitting out the season and wouldn’t consider the possibility of joining Portland or any other team”
Starting shooting guard Wesley Matthews is done for the season after tearing his Achilles on Thursday night, so Portland could use some more depth at shooting guard. They did deal for Arron Afflalo at the trade deadline, who now will need to fill in Matthews’ role.
