The Washington Wizards were eliminated from the playoffs last week and they have some choices to make regarding their future. The Wizards young star Bradley Beal’s contract is not up until 2016, but that is not holding The Wizards back from considering giving him a contract extension early to lock him up.
Bradley Beal averaged 15 points per game and averaged 23 points per game in the playoffs which the Wizards were eliminated from last week.
The Wizards have 6 free agents this off-season to worry about re-signing. Two of them played large roles in the Wizards success this season in Paul Pierce and Kevin Seraphin. Pierce has not ruled out a return to Boston, but he sounds like a man that is undecided on his playing future at this point in time.
Beal will more than likely re-sign with The Wizards, but Washington probably wants to get the negotiations out of the way so they can go into the summer of 2016 without prolonging the process of bringing in new players. Which it’s no secret The Wizards are looking to make a splash in the summer of 2016.
With the NBA’s salary cap going up next season The Wizards will not be worried about going over the cap. It’s almost inevitable Beal gets his contract extended with The Wizards.
Bradley Beal has formed a nice duo in The Wizards back court with John Wall as they’ve grown together and could make Washington a more desirable location to play in. The Wizards have two big names, but they need to add to that nucleus by possibly adding more young talent.
