The past two workouts held by the Wizards at Verizon Center have been more focused on guards, but that all changes tomorrow when the Wizards will be working out 4 different players over 6-foot-9. Washington is expected to go in the direction of drafting of forward or center to gain some youth in the frontcourt.
The workout will include Wisconsin guard Traevon Jackson, Auburn guard Antoine Mason, Ole Miss forward M.J. Rhett, Minnesota forward Maurice Walker, Iowa center Gabriel Olaseni, and Indian center Satnam Singh. There may not be any household names, but a few of these guys could really help the Wizards next season or further down the line.
Most notably is Satnam Singh, the 7-foot-2 giant from India. Singh will likely find himself in the D-League before making a trip to the NBA, but could find himself to be the second player of Indian descent to make it to the league. Last season, Sim Bhullar became the first, and Singh will be the second as long as the remainder of his workouts go as planned.
Wisconsin guard Traevon Jackson may have peaked as a junior, but was still a factor in sending the Badgers to the NCAA championship game. As minutes decreased, so did his points, rebounds, and assists, but his shooting percentage and steals per game found a way to increase.
This workout should be one of the more interesting ones for Washington as they are working out some players who could really help them as the players develop. Watch out for some of these guys to be tough role players throughout their careers, and especially watch out for both Singh and Jackson to compete for large roles in the coming years.
