The free agency party has already come to a close, and Kevin Seraphin seems to have been left out. He went into the offseason expecting to find a team willing to give him an opportunity to start, but was unable to do so while finding himself still sitting on the market.
Even though he has received some interest from both the Knicks and Lakers, it would make most sense for him to return to Washington for the upcoming season. At least there he could back up Marcin Gortat instead of being the third or fourth center in the rotation. There is no doubt he is above DeJuan Blair in the depth chart, so he would see the most time in DC.
Assuming Seraphin chooses to stay with the Wizards, he would most likely sign a one-year deal so he could test free agency again next offseason and try to strike a good deal. He probably learned he cannot wait as long next time around before choosing which team he would like to play for.
Seraphin may not be the best fit in Washington with the team trying to play more small ball this upcoming season, but he is still going to hustle on every play and give the game all he can. He can become a huge impact player in key situations for any team willing to take a chance.
