For some reason, the Washington Wizards game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday night has become a heavily talked about game for one reason or another.
The Grizzlies benched 4 of their regular rotation players and Wizards guard John Wall wasn’t too excited about that.
Then, the Wizards were up big on a shorthanded Grizzlies team when Kevin Seraphin decided to takedown Grizzlies forward Jon Leuer on a fast break in the video above.
The officials ruled the play as a flagrant two foul at the time, which also means he was assessed an automatic ejection. A day later, the league has fined Seraphin for his hard hit.
Following from an official NBA press release.
Washington Wizards center Kevin Seraphin has been fined $15,000 for making excessive contact and pulling Memphis Grizzlies forward Jon Leuer off the rim and to the floor, it was announced today by Rod Thorn, President, Basketball Operations.
Even if there was no intent to injure, it still was a dangerous play, and is worthy of punishment for that reason alone. Seraphin needs to tread lightly because as we saw with Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside, you can’t be too rough again or the NBA will be sure to suspend you for a game, which is exactly what they did to Whiteside.
