Carrie Underwood is just one of many artists receiving criticism after agreeing to perform at the Inauguration of President-Elect Donald Trump. The Country music star is reportedly set to perform “America, The Beautiful,” a decision that many of her fans find to be in poor taste.
“Carrie Underwood is performing at Trump’s inauguration. I knew [there] was something about her I never liked,” one post on X, formerly known as Twitter, reads.
“Shame on Carrie Underwood. She has been removed from my playlists. Is it so hard to stand up with moral principles? Money is truly the root of all evil,” another post on X, formerly known as Twitter, reads.
In contrast, Underwood has received public support from those in television and music, including Whoopi Goldberg and Lee Greenwood.
“I stand behind her,” Goldberg said on The View.
“If I believe I have the right to make up my mind to go perform some place, I believe they have the same right. I have to support. It doesn’t mean I’m particularly interested. I won’t be watching, but that’s just me.”
“For those people who have something negative to say, I say keep it to yourself. Don’t attack a friend of mine who is here for the same reason as I am to inaugurate the 47th President of the United States,” Greenwood, who is also performing on Inauguration Day, told Fox News Digital.
Underwood is part of a larger group of artists across a number of genres expected to take the stage in Washington, D.C. Nelly, The Village People and Jason Aldean are on the lineup for Monday, January 20.
