Every year Forbes Magazine weighs the scales with piles of money to find out who is the highest paid actress of the year. Well every cent has been counted and the results are in!
And Hollywood’s highest paid actress is……………..
SANDRA BULLOCK!!!!
The actress tops the list this year with her massive earnings of $51 million between June 2013 and June 2014. Her success is linked to her involvement with last years box office smash ‘Gravity’. The film earned $714 million worldwide and was nominated for 10 Oscars at last years Academy Awards which it won seven. Bullock herself scored a nod for Best Actress.
Jennifer Lawrence takes the silver medal as she earned an estimated $34 million thanks to her starring in two massive franchises ‘The Hunger Games’ and ‘X-Men’ which have hauled in $864 million and $741 million worldwide respectively. This gives Lawrence the power to negotiate for more for the sequels and possibly take the top spot next year.
Another Jennifer falls into the top three as Jennifer Aniston slides in third place at $32 million. Aniston links her success to beauty campaigns for Aveeno and royalties from Friends. She stared in the hit comedy ‘We’re the Millers’ last year which brought in $269 million worldwide. She can next be seen in ‘Horrible Bosses 2’ which is currently filming.
Gwyneth Paltrow earns the fourth place position by earning $19 million in conjunction with her role in the ‘Iron Man’ franchise. She earns far less than Robert Downey Jr.’s $75 million haul but she can supplement that with endorsements for Max Factor makeup and Hugo Boss.
Fifth place is a tie between Angelina Jolie and Cameron Diaz which each earned $18 million. Jolie was last years top earner despite not having a movie released in the June 2012 and June 2013 time frame. Expect the actress to move up the list next year as she begins to earn back profits from ‘Maleficent’ which has earned over $700 million worldwide and her second directorial effort ‘Unbroken’ hits theaters on Christmas.
The list still shows that women are earning less than men in Hollywood. The top 10 actors earnings totaled $419 million whereas the top 10 women only totaled half of that at $226 million.
