Every year Forbes Magazine weighs the scales with piles of money to find out who is the highest paid actor of the year. Well every cent has been counted and the results are in!
And Hollywood’s highest paid actor is……………..
ROBERT DOWNEY JR.!
The actor takes the top spot of the list for the second year in a row. Downey Jr. has reportedly taken in $75 million between June 2013 and June 2014. That is approximately the same amount he made the year before.
His success can no doubt be linked to the ‘Iron Man’ franchise. All the Marvel films that include Downey Jr. have grossed over $4 billion worldwide and counting. He can next be seen in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ which hits theaters next May.
In the runner up position is Dwayne Johnson who reportedly earned $52 million last year in connection with his involvement in the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise. He can next be seen in ‘Hercules’ which hits theaters this Friday (July 25).
Bradley Cooper takes the bronze medal with a reported earnings of $46 million. The ‘Limitless’ actor can thank his success to ‘American Hustle’ which earned $251 million at the box office and earned him an Academy Award nomination. Cooper will take his turn as a superhero when ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ hits theaters on August 1.
Leonardo DiCaprio earned $39 million and the fourth place spot. His two movies last year ‘The Great Gatsby’ and ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ earned a combined total of $743 million worldwide and an Oscar nod as well.
Rounding out the top five is Downey Jr.’s Marvel costar Chris Hemsworth who pulled in $37 million thanks to his ‘Thor’ franchise. ‘Thor: The Dark World’ made $200 million over its predecessor which allows Hemsworth to negotiate more money for ‘Thor 3’.
