For fans of rap and hip hop, the lyrics written by some of the biggest artists in the game often feel aspirational. The big house, the garage full of expensive, exotic cars, and the group of people on your payroll, ready to handle your every need, all feel like exciting expenses when listening to this kind of music.

They also love lavish entertainment. For hip hop artists, a fun night out may be a night spent gambling thousands of dollars or taking all your friends to Las Vegas and for some performers, nights like these happen more often.

How Often Do Hip Hop Artists Gamble?

With so much cash to spend, it’s no surprise that hip hop artists look for any reason to gamble. Artists will often head to Las Vegas just to party, with Jennifer Lopez, Drake, and Dr. Dre having been seen at Vegas clubs such as Ling Ling.

Hip hop artists also manage to find time to make a few bets while they’re on tour. Nelly, most famous for his song Hot in Here and for wearing a band-aid on his face, got into a heated moment while playing Texas Hold’Em at a land-based casino in Connecticut. Nelly visited the casino tables after a show in the state, suggesting that he had been planning to gamble to cool off after such a big performance.

What Casino Games Do Hip Hop Artists Like to Play?

Hip hop artists seem to enjoy all kinds of gambling. Nelly enjoys playing poker and has played in the World Series of Poker event and Birdman likes sports betting.

P Diddy and Jay Z have also been seen playing casino table games, which are games such as blackjack and roulette. Such games have become increasingly popular through the years, with the rise of online casino platforms meaning that you can play online roulette whenever you like, regardless of your hip-hop credentials…

How Much Do Hip Hop Artists Spend While Gambling?

Hip hop artists are rumored to spend thousands of dollars at the casino every time that they visit. In 2018, Drake spent $200,000 gambling at a land-based casino in Atlantic City.
There are articles that claim that Jay Z once spent $500,000 playing poker in Las Vegas and 2 Chainz has a song about betting $100,000 on the Atlanta Falcons American football team. A successful song can make these artists millions of dollars, so many are happy to celebrate by gambling with it.

Playing casino games and opening a SoundCloud account are probably the two easiest ways to feel like a rapper living the good life. The next step is to get the musical skill to back it up!
