Drake is not just top three. He’s numbers one, two and three atop the Billboard Hot 100 charts. As he celebrates this crowning achievement, he has reached another milestone in his rollout of Certified Lover Boy. Today, the Toronto native learned that “What’s Next” has been certified gold in under two weeks.
Reaching gold status is nothing new for the biggest rapper in the world. The GRAMMY-winner has led four gold or better singles since 2019. He also earned a number of gold and platinum plaques working with DJ Khaled, 21 Savage, Future, PartyNextDoor and several others over the last few years.
“What’s Next” is also Drake’s latest number-one single. It is his second number one hit since dropping Scorpion in 2018. He came fairly close with “Laugh Now, Cray Later” in 2020 as well. “Popstar” with DJ Khaled and “Life Is Good” with Future also landed in the top three.
Commercial success is nothing new to Drake, so it would come as no surprise if every track from Scary Hours II went gold. It also wouldn’t be a surprise if “What’s Next” would soon become platinum. However, fans are not waiting for more numbers from Drake. They’re waiting for Certified Lover Boy. When will it come? We have no clue. We just know what it’s on the way.
