In October 2015, Kendrick Lamar was invited to the White House to met the Commander-in-chief. It isn’t much of a secret that Obama is a fan fan of the Compton artist, as he’s stated that “How Much A Dollar Cost” is his favorite song of the 2015, so for these two to meet was inevitable. The video speaks on the importance of mentorship and how it can affect change for the youth.
During his visit Senior adviser Valerie Jarrett voiced her opinion about him on BuzzFeed‘s Another Round podcast (which I highly recommend listening to):
“You know what the president said to him? [Because] he was a little nervous — bless his heart, he’s really a very nice young man, and the president said, ‘Can you believe that we’re both sitting in this Oval Office?’” Jarrett said.
