Penélope Cruz and Edgar Ramirez have signed on to star in the upcoming Netflix thriller, Wasp Network. Written and directed by Olivier Assayas, Wasp Network tells the story of five Cuban intelligence operatives who were arrested and convicted of espionage and other crimes.
Ramirez will play the role of René González. González is a Cuban pilot who left his family behind to live in Miami, Florida. After arriving, he teams up with a group of Cubans across South Florida known as the Wasp Network. Not long after joining, González takes on the role of infiltrating Cuban American groups planning to organize against Fidel Castro.
Meanwhile, Cruz plays the role of Olga Salanueva, a Wasp Network operative. Joining Cruz and Ramirez, Ana de Armas, Wagner Moura, Gael García Bernal and Leonardo Sbaraglia will appear in the series.
Wasp Network will hit Netflix on June 19, 2020.
