The Golden State Warriors have offered former Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Mike Brown the position of lead assistant coach, reports Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski:
Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr has offered his top assistant coaching job to Mike Brown, league sources told The Vertical.
Terms of the deal still need to be worked out, sources said.
The Warriors’ top assistant spot is open because former assistant Luke Walton has taken a job as head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Brown and Tyrone Corbin had previously been reported to be the top choices for the job.
Brown, who won the NBA Coach of the Year award in 2009, has been coaching since 1992, when he began as an assistant with the Washington Wizards. He also served as assistant for the Indiana Pacers and San Antonio Spurs before getting the head coaching position with the Cavs. Brown also coached the Los Angeles Lakers for the 2011-12 season, but was fired before the 2012-13 season.
