Dirk Nowitzki recently opted out of his deal with the Dallas Mavericks. The future Hall of Fame forward has done it all throughout his NBA career. He’s won an MVP award, an NBA Championship, been named to 13 NBA All-Star games and 12 times he was a member of the All-NBA Team. Not to mention he’s a member of the 50/40/90 shooting club, the Dallas Mavericks franchise leading scorer and he’s an international basketball superstar.
While the German big man has done it all, there appears to be something left for Nowitzki. He hasn’t retired yet and it appears that he wants one more shot to chase a NBA championship. While the Mavs are at a weird place with their roster, it appears a championship caliber team is looking to make a solid upgrade to their depth. The Golden State Warriors, fresh off a loss in the 2016 NBA Finals, might look to bring in Dirk as a gun-for-hire.

This is why the Warriors want Dirk Nowitzki.
Did I surprise you with that name? I was surprised when I heard that a run for Nowitzki was bouncing around the Warriors’ thought process recently, but it makes sense.
Joe Lacob and Bob Myers’ Warriors are going to be aggressive–we always know they’re going to be aggressive.
But if you know Lacob, Myers and the entire makeup of this management group, the Game 7 loss to Cleveland on Sunday absolutely flipped the turbo switch.
“We will be very aggressive,” one Warriors executive said late Sunday night when asked about the team’s approach in
the coming movement period. “Very, very aggressive.”
To further confirm Lacob wanting to be aggressive, he said the following to ESPN’s Marc Stein after their loss last night.
Warriors owner Joe Lacob, on what's next for his team, said firmly on his way out of Oracle: "All I can say is I will be very aggressive."

Would Dirk leave the Dallas Mavericks? I highly doubt it but if there’s one team who would intrigue him, it would have to be the Golden State Warriors. Their big man position, outside of Draymond Green, struggled immensely in the 2016 NBA Finals. From Andrew Bogut to Festus Ezeli to Anderson Varejao and even Mo Speights, none of the Dubs big men really got anything going. Could Dirk be a guy to come in for about 20 minutes and score 15-20 points if the Warriors need it? Sure thing, but they would have to make the offer more enticing than the one Mark Cuban probably has in store.
