Fresh off of the success of Bad Boys For Life, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah have signed on to lead the upcoming Batgirl movie at Warner Bros. The directorial duo will work alongside writer Christina Hodson. Hodson has contributed to Bumblebee, Birds of Prey and The Flash. Rounding out the team, Kristin Burr of the upcoming Cruella film is set to produce.
‘With Batgirl, we hope to take the audience on a fun ride and see a different side of Gotham,” Burr told The Hollywood Reporter.
“Christina’s script is crackling with spirit. Adil and Bilall have an excited and joyous energy, which is infectious, making them the perfect filmmakers for this Bat project. And I’m just psyched I get to be part of the DC universe, which is super cool.”
The upcoming Batgirl film will center around Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Gotham City Police Commissioner Joseph Gordon. Neither Warner Bros. nor DC has shared any updates regarding the cast for the film.
