
Two people died and eight were injured after a trio of shootings caused chaos in Virginia Beach, Virginia on Friday evening.
The first reported shooting took place on the 2000 block of Atlantic Avenue in Virginia Beach just before midnight. Officers responded to the shooting and found eight victims who were later transported to the hospital. While there were no immediate casualties, authorities said that the victims sustained “serious to life-threatening” injuries. Three young men have been charged in connection to the shootings.
Later that night, a woman was killed during a violent encounter on the 300 block of 19th Street. Norfolk native Deshayla Harris was a bystander when a bullet struck and killed her at the age of 28. Authorities have not shared if any suspects were identified in the shooting.
The last incident was a violent counter between a citizen and an officer. Twenty-five-year-old Donovon Lynch was shot and killed by officers. The officer responsible for his death has been placed on administrative leave. Police have not shared the name of the officer.
