Andrew Wiggins continued his meteoric rise to stardom on Friday night. The Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard led the World team in a losing effort in the Rising Stars Challenge.
For Wiggins, it was another opportunity to show his abilities in front of a wide audience. The reigning rookie of the year had a phenomenal season last year and has continued to build on that this year. Last season also saw the Kansas alum win the Rising Stars Challenge MVP award, so he was no stranger to the competition.
In a losing effort, Wiggins 29 points on a super-efficient 13-15 shooting, while grabbing four rebounds. The Toronto native also showcased his seemingly effortless dunks with athleticism that looks more smooth than anyone else.
Wiggins was unable to secure the victory for his squad, instead losing to the US team led by his Wolves’ teammates Zach Lavine and Karl-Anthony Towns. Nevertheless, it was another blossoming moment in the young career of a burgeoning superstar.
