The Toronto Raptors Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan have been getting a lot of heat (no pun intended), from spectators, fans and league analysts about their inconsistent play this playoffs and their struggles to find their respective offensive touches throughout the first 2 rounds of the Playoffs. DeRozan and Lowry have both struggled to find their shot, and it caused the Raptors to struggle to get past the 1st round against the Indiana Pacers and now they are in a tight matchup vs. an experienced Miami Heat team. Heading into Game 5, the two Raptors all-star’s knew what was at stake and what they had to bring to the table for the Raptors to win, and they showed they’re worth tonight.
Kyle Lowry scored 25 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists, and DeMar DeRozan added 34 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists, while shooting at or above 50% for the first time this series. To be frank, they played the games they are supposed to play when playing in the 2nd round of the NBA Playoffs. You expect your stars to shine the brightest when the lights get the brightest and in Game 5, when all lights were shining in their faces, they showed what they could do.
Here are all of DeRozan and Kyle Lowry’s points in Game 5, including a dagger by Lowry to seal the deal (Via Ximo Pierto Final & Nba.com):
DeRozan, Lowry and the Raptors cast have a chance to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in franchise history on Friday if they win in Miami in Game 6. It won’t be easy, the experienced Miami Heat have been in situations like this before, with their backs against the wall, and will try their best to force a decisive game 7 in Toronto on Sunday.
