The Portland Trail Blazers are currently in the middle of a surprising season, firmly in the hunt for the playoffs in the Western Conference. They made the postseason last year but after losing four of their five starters including star big man LaMarcus Aldridge, the expectations for the Blazers weren’t high. Little did everyone know, Damian Lillard was going to put this team on his back and carry them as far as he can.
It might have taken an extra five minutes but the Blazers pulled out a victory over the Washington Wizards in overtime behind Lillard’s 41 points. Dame Dolla shot 12-25 on the night including going 6-13 from three-point range and 11-12 from the free throw line. He also handed out 11 assists on the night, playing 44 minutes.
Since Lillard’s snub from the NBA All-Star game the point guard has been on a tear. In 11 games played, the Blazers are 7-4 but Dame has been insane averaging 33.5 points per game on 48% shooting from the field, 41% shooting from three-point range, averaging 5.3 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game. He’s also had two 50 point games, including one against the Golden State Warriors, since the All-Star Game snub.
