Blake Griffin is a very physical player, and he plays his heart out every night. On a play that would be his last of the Clippers game in Chicago against the Bulls, Griffin played a little bit too hard, and ended up hitting Taj Gibson in the face, resulting in a flagrant-2 fowl. On the play, Blake fell too hard for a pump fake, and he swatted down and ended up hitting Gibson in the face. While violent, it clearly was not intentional judging by Blake’s immediate reaction to hitting Taj. It all happened with 5:58 remaining in the third quarter, and Griffin would finish with a team high 18 points and 11 rebounds. The Clips dropped the low-scoring battle 80-83. Maybe if Blake was able to finish the game, they may have won, but basketball is a team game, and key players like Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan should have stepped up in the final minutes.
