When Austin Rivers first entered the league, from Duke University, the expectation was high for the then New Orleans Hornets guard. Rivers life has changed since then, and now he’s playing in sunny Los Angeles for his father, Head Coach Doc Rivers.
Rivers spoke exclusively with VICE sports during a ‘ride-along’ session, and he spoke about his transition to becoming a Clipper. Check out the video:
Rivers went on to discuss a lot of topics, including his first Clippers practice, and how players still trust him, despite him being the coaches son.
The Clippers were eliminated in 6 games in the 1st round to the Blazers, due to Chris Paul and Blake Griffin having season-ending injuries. Austin Rivers tried his best to fill the void of star point guard Chris Paul. There is a lot of speculation as to what will happen to this Clippers team. With multiple failed post season runs, Doc Rivers will have to assess this team this offseason to see what improvements he can make.
Rivers has recently talked about his relationship with Doc, stating that they never were too close when he was growing up but still, how awkward must be just considering having to trade your son?
