Tonight will be a night to remember for Victoria Monét, her family and her closest collaborators. Ten years after releasing her first EP as a solo artist, the Sacramento-raised musician’s latest LP, Jaguar II, has won Best R&B Album honors at the 66th Annual GRAMMY Awards. It is her first victory in this category and her second win of the evening. Earlier today, Jaguar II also won the Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical category.
“My friend, you deserve this one million times over,” Monét’s longtime collaborator, Ariana Grande, said after the award was presented.
“I am so deeply proud of and happy for you there are no words. You have worked so hard and given so much of yourself to this industry for so, so long while quietly being in your absolute own league.”
Victoria Monet is also nominated in two of the “Big Four” categories, including Best New Artist and Record of the Year. Not to be forgotten, she also earned nominations in several R&B categories, including Best Traditional R&B Performance and Best R&B Song.
