Last season, we saw Russell Westbrook do the unthinkable and average a triple double over an entire campaign, leading his Oklahoma City Thunder to the NBA Playoffs and earning himself his first MVP trophy. Westbrook plays the game with a flair unique to himself and his rip your heart out mentality has made him beloved by basketball fans worldwide.
Though Westbrook will look to repeat his excellence, it’ll be tougher to put up stats as gaudy as last year’s with the addition of Paul George. With two months still separating us from the season, this doesn’t stop people everywhere from giving their take on who’ll win MVP next season and that is certainly true in Las Vegas. Early Vegas MVP odds surfaced today and no surprise, Westbrook sits among the group followed by ex-teammate Kevin Durant and Kawhi Leonard to round out the top three. Westbrook remaining the likeliest MVP winner in Vegas shouldn’t come as a surprise after his historic campaign. Houston Rockets guard James Harden who finished runner-up for the award in 2017 is currently given the 5th best odds to take home MVP hardware.
Though last year was a two-man race for the greater part of the campaign, expect this year’s MVP competition to be much more evened out with additional superstar talent now on the Rockets and Thunder.
