CHECKMATE!
Welcome to the battle world Chess. The URL has released their second battle from their newest mainstay event series, Rookies vs Vets, Chess vs Dna. Chess, the rookie, was matched up against the young savvy Vet, DNA. This match up was nothing short of a mirror match; Chess, 17, is the youngest rookie and DNA, 24, is the youngest Vet. An instance of deja vu was sensed on the URL stage in the first round, as Chess almost seemed to gag during his delivery. He then paused and disappeared into the crowd on stage, reappearing seconds later. He later revealed to the crowd he had hurled. Bizarre as this may seem, something shockingly similar struck DNA during his battle with Tsu Surf years prior. Minutes after recovering, Chess is again struck by the same affliction. He again disappears into the crowd, reappears, and continues rapping. Albeit his efforts were initially impeded by hurdles, heart does not nearly encumber the display Chess shows as soon as he ceased yakking. The boy came back with his chest out, spitting fire. His performance on the URL stage laid the stepping stones for the legacy this boy is bound to leave in battle rap.
DNA showed his youth, as he’s famous for being fired up in his first rounds. During intense matches on the URL stage, notice he jumps around, after ending a fire round saying “GHTFOH” or “You cant F*** with me.” Also The veteran showed his prowess as thinker….to have his mentor, Charlie clips; who also battled T-Top on the card, in his corner. The humbled vet seemed to have taken some advice clips had to offer in the second round and evidently switched his game plan as DNA and clips shared some words During the 20:35 minute. Clips seems to say “you gonna switch it?” DNA responds with “Yeah definitely.” Nevertheless, DNA’s second round still managed to be debatable. That extra round he put in his back pocket must have been CRAZY.
The rookies need to prove, on stage and on cam, that they belong and will continue to provide the level of entertainment the Vets have given the fans for the past 5 years. The Vets need exemplifying why their purses are what they are and now smack is putting their earnings to the test. Can the Vets keep up the same passion and level of work they have shown to the world? Prove it and the rookies wont take your spot but only increase the talent pool, without over-saturating the brand. One can imagine the energy in the room during the event. So far URL is shooting 100% from the field and is expected to stay that way throughout the 2015 season. Smack seems to not be on RNT, one of his famous sayings, as the battle dropped five days after the release of Shotgun Suge vs Th3 Saga. Up next is Aye Verb vs Brizz Rawsteen. Did Chess and DNA prove what they need to?
