Tyronn Lue and LeBron James had one thing in common this summer, besides being members of the 2016 NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers. Both Lue and James were undecided on their future with the Cavs. LeBron has yet to re-sign with the Cavs but he is expected to reach a deal soon. Lue didn’t sign a new deal when he took over as head coach of the Cavaliers and continued under his assistant coach contract agreed to in 2014.
Lue coached the Cavs to a title and he now is being rewarded properly for being the first coach in Cavs history to win an NBA championship. He has agreed to an extension with the team after not signing an extension when David Blatt was let go.

Lue is one of they young coaches in the NBA that is highly regarded in the NBA. He took reigns of the team midway through the Cavs season after they fired David Blatt and he made his mark. He reportedly shut down LeBron James on a couple of occasions and was very particular with his rotations when it came to the playoffs.
Lue will be the lead man for the Cavs for a couple more years or at least until the team wants to keep him around. As we’ve seen in the NBA, head coach contracts are written on toilet paper and they’re very disposable.
