A history of surgeries continue for a former rookie of the year as New Orleans Pelicans guard Tyreke Evans recently underwent successful arthroscopic knee surgery. Evans missed a few games last season due to injury and dating back to his days with the Sacramento Kings, Tyreke has struggled with staying healthy.
Evans has not played one complete season in the NBA but this past season was a good trend forward as he played in 79 games. While Evans injury history is not as decorated and plentiful as Derrick Rose, he still has his issues.
Following from an official New Orleans Pelicans press release.
The New Orleans Pelicans announced today that guard Tyreke Evans underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Wednesday evening. A timetable for his return to basketball activities will be announced in the near future.
Evans posted averages of 16.6 points, 6.6 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game last season for New Orleans. Tyreke also appeared in all of the Pelicans’ post-season games against the Golden State Warriors, averaging 10.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game in the Warriors sweep.
Evans future with New Orleans could be cloudy as he does have a big cap number and with a new coach coming to New Orleans, he might be one of the pieces on their way out. The experiment of a young ‘big 3’ in the ‘big easy’, centered around Anthony Davis, Eric Gordon and Evans, is a failure to this point. With a new coach coming in, it might be time for some guys to go.
