The Kansas City Chiefs and dynamic wide receiver Tyreek Hil have reportedly agreed to a contract extension that will keep the 25-year-old in Kansas City through at least 2022. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Hill’s extension will be worth $54 million over three years.
The #Chiefs and WR Tyreek Hill have agreed to terms on 3-year, $54M contract extension that puts him among the highest paid at his position, sources say. After an up-and-down offseason, KC and Hill make it clear they are sticking together.

“We’re pleased we were able to reach an agreement with Tyreek to keep him in a Chiefs uniform for the foreseeable future,” Chiefs GM Brett Veach said in a statement. “He understands our expectations of him as a member of this team and community. This extension is contingent upon the conditions Tyreek agreed to adhere to upon his return to the team in July. Tyreek is an elite player in this league and has played a major role in our team’s success, and we’re pleased that he’ll continue to make an impact for us.”
Tyreek Hill has had quite the interesting year both on and off the field. On the gridiron last season, Hill exploded onto the scene as one of the NFL’s best wide receivers, proving he’s more than just a homerun threat. Hill posted 87 receptions for 1,479 yards with 12 touchdowns last season and was Patrick Mahomes’ top target during a stellar MVP campaign.
However, the good ends there for Hill. The West Alabama product was the subject of a criminal investigation into the possible abuse of his three-year-old son who sustained a broken arm. In the audio that was released between Hill and his fiancee, Hill can be heard denying any role in the altercation. Hill was not suspended by the NFL despite many expecting them to.
Of course, Hill’s extension now coming less than a year after the allegations surfaced is certainly notable but nothing we haven’t seen before. Players are sometimes given second chances in the NFL when suspected of violating the NFL’s conduct policy and while it varies greatly case to case, Hill is just the latest example. With the extension agreed upon and no suspension looming this season, expect Hill to enjoy another electric campaign for the contending Chiefs.
