Tyla is back like she never left.
Two weeks after delivering the sizzling “It Is” video, the South African songstress has returned to the scene of the crime. The GRAMMY Award winner has dropped off four new tracks packed with her signature blend of amapiano, seduction, and rhythm. She calls it WWP, the EP.
For the majority of the surprise 11-minute, 26-second party, Tyla displays her Afropop talents solo. However, she does team up with worldwide Wizkid for the project’s early breakout track — “Dynamite.” During a recent interview with Capital XTRA Breakfast, Tyla revealed that the song has actually been in the works since 2022, but felt this was the right time to share it with the world.
“We made ‘Dynamite,’ and I was sitting on that demo for three years, like playing it and dancing in my room and just praying to God,” she explained. “Like, ‘God, one day the song is going to come out,’ and it’s coming out!” The reason for the delay, she explained, was “we, like, just didn’t end up finishing it. Like, we would talk about here and there, but it just didn’t happen. You know how things are. We both are very busy, and we have a lot of things that we are doing.”
WWP is not the full-length follow-up to her 2024 self-titled LP, but it is a welcome substitute. At just 23 years old, Tyla has shown that she has the talent, charisma, and commitment to be a star for years to come, and WWP is the latest evidence as to why. Check out the full WWP EP below.
