We’re 9 months in 2015 and the year has already been jammed back with releases from multiple huge names in the music industry. From surprise releases to new creative strategies to launch content, this year has been one of the better years for music, creatively and content-wise. Among the highly anticipated for the remainder of the year is hit-maker Ty Dolla $ign. After a few setbacks, it appears that Ty Dolla is almost ready to unleash his new album to the world. Holding a listening session yesterday evening, Ty Dolla’s Free TC debut is looking to be just as amazing as we’re hoping for. As the folks over at Fashionably-Early has the honor of attending, they looked out for us all with some highlights from the session.
- The introduction features clips of the beauty of LA, then Ty comes in with some absolutely beautiful strings in the background. Ty mentioned he spent upwards of $60,000 on strings just for this album, and you really hear it throughout the album. Kendrick Lamar spits one of his better verses in recent memory, and the song also feature vocals from Brandy & James Fauntleroy. DJ Battle Cat also did some work on the introduction, which shows off the true musicianship of Ty.
- It sounds like Ty’s next single will be ‘When I See Ya’ featuring Fetty Wap. The music video was already shot for the track, which was produced by Cardo & Johnny Juliano. This track is just a banger. Nothing else to say.
- Finishing off the listening session, Ty showed some hometown love and played two tracks featuring two of the biggest Chicago artists of all time. The first is ‘Actress’ featuring R. Kelly, while the second is an untitled song featuring vocals from Kanye West. I’ll let your mind do the imagining for those two.
Based off these tidbits of of information, Ty Dolla $ign just may have a gem on his hands. Reportedly ready to announce the album’s release date along with an official pre-order, we just may be able to add Ty Dolla Free TC to 2015’s steadily growing list of quality project.
