Twitter is reportedly testing a new feature that will urge users to click through and read an article before sharing it. The tech giant is hoping to help users be more aware of what they’re sharing before doing so. For now, only select users will be able to access the feature
“Sharing an article can spark conversation, so you may want to read it before you Tweet it,” the company tweeted.

To help promote informed discussion, we're testing a new prompt on Android –– when you Retweet an article that you haven't opened on Twitter, we may ask if you'd like to open it first.

While the company hopes to encourage users to read articles before sharing them, they will not stop users from doing so. Instead, it will simply provide a short pop-up prompt for users to read before sharing a story.
Twitter has not shared a timeline yet as to when the feature may be rolled out to iPhone and Web users. Moreover, there is no word as to if the feature will notify other users if a certain account has shared an article before reading.
