Former President Donald Trump may not be interested in sharing the debate stage with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, but that doesn’t mean that he will not address him by name when the opportunity arrives in an interview.
On Sunday, September 17, NBC broadcast a taped interview that Kristen Welker conducted with former President Donald Trump. During their conversation, Welker referenced arguments from the Florida Governor that Trump’s impact in a second term would be limited because he would limited to four years in office rather than a potential eight-year campaign.
“Just so you understand when DeSantis says that, he’s not your man. He’s not your man, I know it because he’s a very untalented guy,” Trump told Welker.
“When somebody says eight years, we need eight years, no. In six months to a year, many of the problems, almost all of the problems that you and I have just spoken about will be solved.”
In his answer, Trump seemingly quashed rumors that he would attempt to amend the U.S. Constitution to serve a third term. In his words, Trump feels that the country shouldn’t want a candidate that needs eight years in office.
“Anybody that says they need eight years,” the former President said.
“You don’t want that person.”
