Cleveland Cavaliers big man Tristan Thompson has been the definition of consistent since his first day in the NBA. The former fourth overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft has been with the franchise through the worst times and some of the best. But through it all, Tristan has played, and he racked up quite the streak. He’s played in 447 consecutive games in his career, the most among active players and most in Cleveland franchise history. As the Cavs currently face some late season struggles, it’s Thompson who might be the most recent issue on the Cavaliers.
Thompson suffered an injury on Tuesday night in the Cavs win over the Magic. It appears that he will be sidelined for at least two days due to a sprained thumb in his right hand.
Following from an official Cleveland Cavaliers press release.
Tristan Thompson suffered a sprained right thumb during the third quarter of Tuesday’s game vs. the Magic in Cleveland at Quicken Loans Arena. He was taped and able to continue playing. X-rays taken at the arena following the game were negative. Thompson did not travel with the team to Boston on Tuesday night in order to have additional evaluation and imaging done at Cleveland Clinic Wednesday morning. The results have confirmed a sprained right thumb. He will miss Wednesday’s game in Boston vs. the Celtics and Friday in Cleveland vs. the Hawks while undergoing continued treatment and additional evaluation. His status beyond that will be updated as appropriate.
