Sometimes talent runs in the family. For years now, Joe Budden has been in the limelight because of his outspoken nature, numerous legal battles, emergence as a media personality and most importantly, his ability to make music. Recently, his son has taken after him in the realm of music. A few weeks back, Joe Budden premiered a track called “Thoughts After The Courtroom” by his son, Trey Budden. Since then, he’s joked about his son asking for Uber rides to the studio and recording his own music. This week, Joe Budden premiered his son’s newest track, “Hold Me Down”, featuring Moon.
Trey shines on the track that discusses his ongoing troubles with women. Budden opens up the record by rapping, “I know some women that only f*ck with me because I’m rockin’/Those are the only women that don’t even hear me when I’m talkin’/It took you a minute and some hatin’, but look now you’re here/I give you a couple weeks and I’ll bet you disappear.” Later in the record, Moon shines on his verse when he sings, “I’m trying to make it right/I’m not trying to fight/They do/They do.”
While it’s still very early, the record is very promising and it’ll be interesting to see where his music goes from here. With that being said, it is clear that Trey Budden is slowly building a name for himself that is based on the merits of his own talent.
