Daystar “Tory Lanez” Peterson was convicted of the following charges: carrying an unregistered firearm, negligent discharge of a firearm and assault with a semiautomatic firearm. Immediately after being convicted, Peterson was taken into custody and detained. Yesterday, Peterson appeared in court for the first time since he was convicted of the aforementioned charges. Alongside his new attorney, David Kenner, Peterson requested his sentencing be pushed from January 27, 2023 to February 28, 2023 and the judge obliged.
Tory Lanez and Kenner do not plan to simply delay the sentencing hearing. Within the next month and change, Kenner is expected to file a motion for a new trial. In addition, Kenner is also expected to file a motion to dissolve a protective order that bars him from discussing the charges he’s been convicted of.
“We look forward to litigating the motion for [a] new trial,” Kenner said, per Rolling Stone.
“We are very confident.”
Tory Lanez will continue to legally push back against the charges he’s been convicted of until his sentencing hearing in February. He faces up to 22 years and eight months in prison to go along with potential deportation.
