Top 10 Tips For Better Men’s Grooming

Are You Properly Caring For Your Most Valuable Asset, Your Face?
If you have been struggling with getting the right products and the right routine down for your facial skin care regiment, then you may need a few helpful hints. Don’t just let your skin age and crack like old leather. It may seem sexy on TV to look like a lumberjack, but it is guaranteed that those actors have more skin care products and hair products and makeup than most of the girls that you know. Skin care isn’t about beauty but about health. If you want your skin to last your whole life, then take care of it. The more you care for it the better you will look late into your golden years. Here are the top ten tips for quality men’s skincare.

Know Your Skin Type

Do you have oily skin? How about dry skin? Are you breaking out into your 30s or 40s? These are all things you need to consider when you buy products. The amount of witch hazel in a cleanser matters to the type of skin and the level of acne. The moisturizing agents in a moisturizer matters because you want a weight to match the oil and hydration needs of your skin. If you tend to be excessively oily, then you should focus on heavy cleansers and light moisturizers. If you tend to be dry, then you should use a light cleanser and heavy moisturizer. Know what you need before you buy.

Ignore The Packaging

Don’t be sexist. Products are products. There are no ingredients that are specifically for women. There are only products that work for specific types of skin. See hint number 1. So, if something with flowery packaging works best for you, then use it. People can tell when the products are working, and they will tell you. It is true that lots of women’s products have a sent. The best way to avoid this is to buy products that are fragrance free. This will ensure that you aren’t smelling of a bowl of dried flowers, unless that is what you are going for. Conclusion: buy what works, not what has the more manly marketing.

Ethnicity Matters

It may seem odd, but your heritage does bring with it, certain predilections to skin types. Don’t ignore it. It could lead you down a better path. Your ethnicity could mean that you are more predisposed to ingrown hair, or it could mean that your pigment coloration fades in and out. It isn’t just about your skin type. It is also about where your skin type comes from. Knowing your roots allows you to know not just your skin type but also all the color needs, hair needs, and potentially your risk of skin cancer.

Cleanse Twice A Day

It is possible to clean too much. It is also possible to under clean. Clean just the right amount at the right times during the day. Cleansing needs to be done when it is needed the most. This means that you should focus on the times of the day that have too much oils and dirt. The morning and the evenings are the best times to cleanse. Think of it as a spiritual and physical action that will clean your face and your mind. A cleanser with moisturizer is the best as you don’t want to strip all of the oils from your face.

Exfoliate Twice A Week

What is exfoliation exactly? Well, soap and a cleanse will only work on the oils and dirt on your face. However, your face also has lots of dead skin. It isn’t that disgusting. But, if you ignore it, all that skin will build up. This is when the exfoliation shines its amazing skills. Exfoliation is important because it deep cleans your facial skin. Exfoliating cream or lotion usually includes small grains that work like sandpaper. A scrub and a brush work to clean all of the dead skin and nastiness off your face. The hint is to not do it more than twice a week. If you exfoliate too much you will start to irritate your skin. Too little and the skin will start to build up. Too much and your skin will turn red and dry.

Moisturize Twice A Day

Make sure that you don’t dry up. No one wants a raisin for a face. Instead stay hydrated and stay soft. This means moisturizing during the day and not just at the beginning or at the end. If you are out in the wind and sun, moisturizing may be more often. If you are sitting inside and not doing that much you may not need to moisturize at all. Pay attention to your skin and what it needs. It can’t talk to you, but you can feel it and touch it. Don’t be afraid of over moisturizing. You should be afraid of your skin drying out.

Always Use An SFP Lotion

A few moments outside won’t kill you. A few moments that turn into an hour or multiple days or weeks will definitely affect your colorations and deliver you an unhealthy dose UV rays. A few minutes here or there over the course of a life will add up. The damage that it will cause is irreversible and may lead to cancer. It is a major concern for everyone. To deal with this you need to make sure that you are using a lotion with an SPF rating. It doesn’t matter how much. What matters is that you are protecting your skin and your cancer-free future.

Don’t Pick At Your Face

This may seem obvious, but most people are always picking at something. What does this mean? It means that you could be making your face bleed. If it bleeds it could scar. Just don’t do it. Your nails and fingers spread germs and viruses.

Establish A Routine

The best way to make sure that you always do everything is to create a routine. Routines are like muscle memory. If you don’t do something in your routine it feels different. Routines will keep you honest and keep you healthy.

Stay Up On New Products

New products are being developed every day. Men’s Grooming blogs like Groom Journal may seem boring to read but they provide an excellent source of information of new products and new procedures. Keeping up on the skin care news will keep you one step ahead of time, aging, and wrinkles. So, what are your options? Either be informed or be greasy.
