Tony Romo will be at the center of any and all quarterback drama coming this summer and right next to him will be Kirk Cousins. Will the Dallas Cowboys keep Tony Romo or trade him, as he prefers. Will the Redskins extend his contract beyond the franchise tag? The future among the pair of NFC East quarterback’s is very much up in the air.
But one possibility could be a trade and get everyone settled into some new locations. There reportedly have been some discussions involving the Redskins, Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers, which could see the Niners trade away their number two pick. A pick the Niners have already possibly used in trade talks, according to new general manager John Lynch. Plus, Kirk Cousins also reportedly said that he’d prefer to be traded to San Francisco. This could be a match made in heaven.
The following comes from NFL network.
The three organizations could soon discuss a trade that would send Kirk Cousins to San Francisco, Tony Romo to Washington and draft-pick compensation (including the No. 2 overall pick in April’s draft) to Dallas, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Friday, via sources informed of the potential talks.
To be clear, the proposed swap is in a stage so preliminary that serious negotiations have yet to take place — and might never reach fruition.
As #Redskins & #49ers discuss a potential deal for QB Kirk Cousins in the near future, I’m told they may include the #Cowboys (Romo) as well
