Tony Parker’s season ended in tragic fashion when the San Antonio Spurs’ point guard injured his quad in the playoffs. Parker had finally begun to regain his form after a mostly disappointing year but was ultimately unable to help his team as they were eliminated by the Golden State Warriors.
At 35 years old, the road to recovery seemed long and intimidating for Parker. However, the point guard told French newspaper L’Equipe that he is expecting a return to full basketball activities soon:
“I got some good news,” Parker said as translated by Tom Orsborn of My San Antonio. “My tendon is healed. I worked a lot and paid (the price).”
“I think I need another two months,” Parker continued. “My goal is to come back at the end of November, which would be almost two months ahead of what was announced just after the operation, where we were talking about mid-January.”
Parker’s recovery is remarkable but the Spurs will likely remain extremely cautious due to the high risk of re-injuring the muscle.
Last season for the Spurs, Parker averaged 10.1 points and 4.5 assists per game on 46.6 percent shooting.
