Tinashe has had to set some sort of new record. Just as quick as she closed the door on her first era with her debut album, Aquarius, Tinashe is back in full effect. Less than 24 hours ago, the ‘2 On’ singer premiered the music video for ‘Bet‘, a cut from her first album. Now, the singer is showing the world she means business as she has officially announced the follow-up to her debut. Titled Joyride, Tinashe has revealed an accompanying trailer to heighten anticipation.
While speaking with Rolling Stone in regards to the newly launched era, the singer spoke on how she came up with the album’s title, the creative process for the album, and announced a new record, ‘Party Favors’, will be released within a week.
Why name the album Joyride?
I always had it in the back of my head, but it started to become more and more relevant to my current state of my career. With all this traveling I’ve done this past year and everything I’ve gone through, it just really feels like an adventure, a journey, a ride. What’s changed for you in the process of making this album?
A big part of it was the focus going into it, which was that we weren’t going to make a lot of songs, and it wasn’t going to be so experimental. We definitely knew what we wanted going in, and we were a lot more efficient in achieving it. I have so much other stuff going on that we really didn’t have any other options! One of the songs that stood out to me was the Boi-1da-produced “Party Favors,” which goes even harder than your past club songs like “2 On” and “All Hands on Deck.”
“Party Favors” is one of my favorites, and that will be the first song that we will drop within the next week or so, and it’ll be the first taste of the album everyone will get which is exciting. It’s a very in-your-face first impression.
And just like that, Tinashe is on to the next. Less than a year since her debut, but more than enough experiences to craft new material, all eyes will be on Tinashe to see if the singer can take things up a notch with Joyride, which is due out this Fall.
