Minnesota Timberwolves have sure been struggling all year and have been decimated by injuries to some big name players like Ricky Rubio, Kevin Martin and Nikola Pekovic. Now, they’re adding an injury to a young wing player in Shabazz Muhammad to that list.
The Following from the Associated Press through ESPN.com:
The Wolves say forward Shabazz Muhammad will miss at least the next two weeks with a strained oblique.
The Wolves are hoping Nikola Pekovic and Kevin Martin will be returning from long absences fairly soon. Ricky Rubio is still working his way back from a badly sprained ankle that has kept him out since Nov. 7.
This is a blow not only to the T-Wolves but also to Shabazz Muhammad’s young career. Muhammad has been averaging career-best numbers 13.7 points, 1.2 assists and 4 rebounds per game. Muhammad has also been the second option on the struggling Timberwolves behind rookie sensation, Andrew Wiggins.
With the expected returns of Rubio, Martin and Pekovic, the Wolves might look to finish off the season strong and even upset some teams playoff aspirations. Hopefully this injury won’t be a set back for Muhammad who has, at times, looked great for the Wolves this season when he was given a chance.
