Tayshaun Prince has gone from a defensive stopper, the man who could go toe-to-toe with LeBron James because of his length to a veteran presence specific role locker room guy.
Last season, Prince bounced around the NBA. He started off with the Memphis Grizzles, got shipped to the Boston Celtics and found his way back to the team that he made his mark with in the NBA, the Detroit Pistons.
This summer as Prince hit the free agency market, his value wasn’t anywhere near where it once was, despite LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers expressing interest in the 12 year NBA veteran. He’s a 35 year-old wingman playing in a league where the wing is one of the most important positions in the NBA right now.
So why not put him on a team to help teach some of the brightest young wingmen in the league. Prince has agreed to a deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves seemingly to play a role and also help be a mentor to Andrew Wiggins, Shabazz Muhammad and Nemanja Bjelica.

The Wolves already have Andre Miller, who they also signed this summer, to help mentor the backcourt and Kevin Garnett to help mentor the forwards but these guys will also be playing some minutes. This year is a big one for Minnesota and with the questions of head coach Flip Saunders health, getting reliable veterans to help preach his message for the future is huge for this team.
