The greatest player in the history of the San Antonio Spurs, Tim Duncan, will be returning for his 19th season in the NBA, all spent with the Spurs.
This might be a move to reassure free agent LaMarcus Aldridge that he will return to the team with Aldridge possibly on it or just to help ease the minds of fans. Either way, Duncan made it official. He’ll be back.

Tim Duncan will be back on the court for the Spurs next season.
The 39-year-old Spurs captain on Thursday told the Express-News that a chance to sit down with Gregg Popovich on Wednesday led him to his decision to return for a 19th season in silver and black.
Duncan, a two-time Most Valuable Player and three-time NBA Finals MVP, was part of a Spurs contingent that met in Los Angeles on Wednesday with free agent big man LaMarcus Aldridge in an attempt to induce him to sign on with the team. It was during the trip to L.A that he had a chance to sit down with the only NBA head coach for whom he has played.
Details of a contract for Duncan are not yet known but the Spurs made clear they wanted him to return if he wanted to continue to play.
Now the club — and its fans — knows the most important player in franchise history will be back for at least one more season.
The 5-time NBA Champion will be looking to come back to a team that has already retained Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green locked in for next year and beyond. Duncan will be looking to work alongside LaMarcus Aldrdige and develop him into the next great Spurs big man, following in his footsteps when he took over from David Robinson.
