the San Diego Sherriff’s Department received a disturbance call from Tila “Tequila” Nguyen at 3:45 a.m. on Sunday. “Nguyen told deputies she had been choked and physically restrained by Merriman when she attempted to leave his residence,” Public Information Officer Jan Caldwell tells NBC San Diego.
Nguyen, 27, signed a citizen’s arrest warrent when authorities arrived on the scene, charging the NFL linebacker with battery and false imprisonment.
The 25-year-old Chargers star has been a sports news staple over the past few years, including a controversial 2006 NFL suspension for the use of performance-enhancing substances, and having to sit out the 2008 season to nurse a knee injury.
While Merriman remains in custody at the San Diego County Jail, no word has been released on Tequila’s condition.
Tila was already released from hospital. Def Pen hopes she does well.
