Since Tidal’s introduction to the masses, it’s been a rocky and uphill batter for the streaming service to overcome any ill wishes and negative opinions thrown its way. Constantly displaying their unique approach with high-profile exclusives and perks for music lovers, it quickly became evident that the newly-launched service was making things clear that it was not going down without a fight. Serving as one of its most recent exclusives is none other than Kanye West’s widely discussed and anticipated The Life Of Pablo album. Still, months after its release, the album remains exclusively on Tidal for streaming while some fans still await the release of a physical addition or iTunes availability.
Now, ahead of their anniversary, the streaming service has released information regarding current subscribers and just how many times The Life Of Pablo was streamed during the early moments of its availability.
Via Billboard:
In its first year, Tidal claims to have passed three million paid subscribers globally, adding about 2.5 million subs to the approximately 540,000 it had when it launched in the U.S.
Streaming wars aside, Tidal also finally released numbers for Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo streams for the first time, after West requested the service withhold the numbers when the album first became available in February. According to Tidal, Pablosurpassed 250 million streams in its first 10 days of release.
Impressive numbers all across the board, it’s great to see that all involved are still fighting the good fight when it comes down to the service. As of now, April is already looking great due to an exclusive deal that was inked for Big Sean & Jhene Aiko’s new Twenty88 venture. Simply put, the sky seems to be the limit for Tidal as they continue to push on and advance among competition.
